How payments work
Payments are processed by Stripe. The buyer is charged in full when a bid or request is accepted. The money is held in our Stripe account until the job ends, then paid to the seller less 10%, or returned to the buyer less 5% if canceled.
What you need
To buy: a payment card to post a job, accept a bid or send a request.
To sell: a Stripe account to bid or post an offer. It requires a US tax ID and a US bank account.
Cancellations
A job can be canceled before a bid is accepted. Nothing further is charged, but the $2 posting fee is not refunded.
A request costs nothing until the seller accepts it. Until then it can be declined or left unanswered.
Once a bid or request is accepted, cancellation returns 95% to the buyer and pays the seller nothing.
Cancellations are public, along with the reason given.
Risk and trust
This platform does not verify credentials, review work or guarantee outcomes. Ratings and job history are public to help build trust, but counterparty risk is still real.
Email contact@freelanceclearing.com to report a dispute. We handle each one by hand.
When funds move
Payouts follow Stripe's schedule: typically a few business days, or longer for new accounts still in verification.
Why we charge fees
Our fees keep this market running. There are three:
$2 to post a job
Filters spam, deters manipulation and confirms your card is valid. Offers are free, limit one active offer per account.
10% on completion
Helps cover Stripe's fees and other platform expenses.
5% on cancellation
Covers Stripe's fee on the original charge, which is not returned.
